The shared goal of the LymeX public-private partnership, renewed in 2025, is to “together, disrupt the Lyme status quo” and deliver better care to patients and their families. LymeX infused fresh thinking, interdisciplinary creativity, data-driven delivery, and emerging technologies. Lyme patients are core to the initiative and involved in every step of the LymeX innovation process. In response to public demand for improved diagnostics, HHS renewed the LymeX partnership with reinvigorated focus on next-gen diagnostics—including AI-enabled digital diagnostics, epigenetics diagnostics, multiplex assays, and emerging technologies.

Next-Gen Diagnostics

Accelerate the development and deployment of improved Lyme disease diagnostics using the multi-million-dollar LymeX Diagnostics Prize and emerging technologies like epigenetics diagnostics, digital diagnostics, and artificial intelligence (AI).

Data-Driven Clinical Trials

Move emerging technologies—precision diagnostics and precision treatments—to help Lyme disease patients today using LymeX partners’ infrastructure, including the Lyme Clinical Trials Network (CTN). From-lab-to-market move emerging breakthroughs from the LymeX Diagnostics Prize, LymeX ECHO epigenetics diagnostics, LymeX DxD digital diagnostics, and a LymeX DxD data schema for Lyme disease diagnostics into clinical practice with data-driven feedback loops to inform medical, government, and regulatory decision makers.

Patient-centered Innovation

“Co-create” solutions with patients as partners, using Open Data, Open Science, and Open Innovation with radical transparency and, together, redefine the Lyme status quo.
